Blogger’s DIY Renovations Take Shape with Porcelain Enamel Kitchen Lighting

Dress Up Sheds, Outbuildings with Classic Gooseneck Lighting

Sometimes a garage just isn’t big enough for all the stuff of life. From gardening tools to bikes to various holiday decorations, the items that can’t stay stashed in the living room need to find a home somewhere. Take one “sad-looking house” on a farm in Virginia, add in a recent retiree with a great eye and sense of delight, and you get one amazing makeover!

“I have admired Barn Light Electric fixtures for a long time,” says Susan of Lexington, Virginia, “and when it came time to renovate, I bolted to your website for inspiration.” The original understated porch was removed and a new porch was added along with new roofing, vertical siding, a new door and windows plus an addition to the left of the house. With an interest in vintage lighting, Susan chose porcelain enamel fixtures for her new porch — the Benjamin® Seaside Radial Wave Reflector Stem Light and the matching Goodrich® Seaside Radial Wave Reflector Gooseneck Light.

Like many retirees, Wes Prince was looking for a change of scenery. But unlike those who simply retire to a sunny locale to relax, Wes took on a renovation project that would send most homeowners running for a condo. Wes sold his loft in Atlanta, and, along with his new bride Lola, packed the Jeep with a five-month-old Golden Retriever and a Chihuahua then drove 3,000 miles to Merida, a 500-year-old city on Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula. It was here in this historic city that Wes and Lola tackled the complete renovation of an old ruin that would become their dream home. On his first trip to the area, a friend took him to see the house.
