Buying an older home can be such a romantic notion. Period-specific characteristics and convenient locations make older homes desirable, but the reality check, of course, is that older homes can have inefficient windows, failing appliances, and outdated lighting.
We have enjoyed watching Christina work on her 1902 Victorian home for almost a year now. We follow her progress, along with a host of other fans, on her blog Christina’s Adventures where she chronicles the ups and downs of living in and renovating an older home.
Back in the mid 1800s when Ken’s Kentucky farmhouse was first built, the kitchen was a separate building. Thankfully, the kitchen is now connected to the main house via a back porch so there are no dashes through the rain just to eat dinner. (more…)
