Vintage Pendant Finds a Home in Contemporary Remodel Project

There is much to love about an older home — like intricate architectural detailing you don’t see on cookie cutter houses and the character that comes from years of living, often by different families. Modern amenities, however, are attractive, and owners of older homes often remodel bringing in new, energy efficient appliances and materials to give their older home an updated look.

Take this kitchen found in a 100-year-old Craftsman bungalow for example. A recent contemporary remake of this space added modern stainless touches while still respecting the original aesthetic. The open concept kitchen features seating for two at the butcher block counter and a display cabinet with glass doors. Custom shelving crafted from the same butcher block as the counter eliminates the need for bulky cabinets above while the marble backsplash is a nice touch behind the apron front sink. Topping it off is a nod to the history of the home in the form of a glass shade pendant.

This pendant is similar to our 6″ Vintage Holophane Shade Pendant found on Vintage Barn Lighting. As part of our collection of Holophane Glass Pendants, this fixture features the classic prismatic glass shade characteristic of holophane glass. You may choose a nickel socket with knob or brass socket with turn key for this vintage pendant, and the cotton twist cord comes in four different colors and seven lengths ranging from 24″ to 60″ long. This vintage beauty would work well as a single light in a reading nook or hung in pairs over a kitchen counter or island.  Complete the look with a vintage reproduction Edison Style Light Bulb.

Be sure to browse our entire selection of vintage Glass Shade Pendants which includes beautiful creamy Milk Glass and Cased Glass Pendants with authentic dark green shades. Any of these vintage pendants would add an authentic historic touch to your space!
