Rustic Pendants Add Industrial Style to Coastal Beach House

One reason the industrial farmhouse look is so desirable is because it creates a warm, inviting space that is neither fussy nor formal. The look can be easily achieved in a variety of home styles from cabins in Montana to urban lofts in Chicago. Take this beach home in coastal North Carolina for example. This space offers a strikingly simple balance of nautical and utilitarian touches that make it a comfortable yet appealing space. Our friend, Philip R. Thomas, who is both owner and builder, chose some classic rustic pendants to accent his butcher block island. The metal of the pendants complements the abundance of wood in the space and gives a nod to the coastal vernacular.

“I wanted something appropriate for a true beach house,” Philip explains, adding that he was attracted to the simplicity of these fixtures. These are very much like our Barn Light Atomic CGU Pendant which comes in both small and large sizes. The galvanized finish on these pendants works well with the stainless appliances, but there are 20 finish colors to choose from to suit your style. This light can be cord or stem mounted, and the glass can be customized as well to change the look of the illumination.

“I like that these lights are both rugged and functional,” says Philip. To create a familial look to your own beach house lighting plan, don’t miss the matching Barn Light Atomic Cast Guard CGU Sconce. This American made sconce is highly versatile and rated for wet locations so it’s a great choice for both interior and exterior applications. Consider its wall-hugging profile for bathrooms, hallways, and mudrooms or place it outdoors on a boat house, dock, porch, or garage. Available in two sizes, this sconce is fully customizable with both finish and glass options.
