Vintage Pendant for an Arts & Crafts Style Kitchen
When the Arts & Crafts movement started gaining momentum in the early 1900s, it was a reaction against the machine production of overly ornate goods made with poor quality materials. The Arts & Crafts style focused instead on simple forms with little decoration to lend a clean, refined look to building design and home furnishings. Take this lovely example of vintage pendants in an Arts & Crafts style kitchen. These capture the original charm of some of the most celebrated designs to come out of the Arts & Crafts era. These fixtures are very similar to Barn Light Electric’s Altamont Pendant, part of our collection of Vintage Pendant Lighting.
With its delicate ribbbed glass shade and lens, the Altamont gives nice ambient light without being overpowering. It’s a terrific choice for overhead lighting in kitchens such as this one or in an intimate restaurant seating area. It comes in three sizes, from a petite 8″ wide lens to an ample 16+” wide version that is suitable for larger tables and countertops. This stem-mounted fixture comes in three classic finishes — old bronze, polished nickel, and satin nickel.
Prefer a solid brass fixture? We also offer the Byron Pendant which finds its roots in Colonial and Victorian styles. In contrast to the Altamont, the Byron Pendant features a frosted lens at the base of the shade which gives a somewhat softer spray of light below. This light is perfect for kitchen islands or even as a beautiful bathroom fixture! We offer the Byron in several traditional finishes including aged brass, historic bronze, polished nickel, and satin nickel.
No matter which of our Vintage Pendants you choose, know that we stay true to the Arts & Crafts mission of quality materials for our traditional light fixtures. They are a great choice for any home or place of business with a historic or classic feel!
