Rustic Lighting Ideas for an Outdoor, Mediterranean Terrace
While the days of barbeques and weekend cookouts may be put aside for a few months, there’s no reason to neglect a seasonal, outdoor room! For many in the lower states, an outdoor terrace, like the one found in Southern Living, is perfect for year-round outdoor entertaining, and we’ll tell you why…
Let’s begin with the beautiful awning above. As one of the most noticeable features within the terrace, the awning is retractable, letting the homeowners enjoy the sunshine, or keep out the pesky afternoon rain showers. The awning also lets them relax outside in the Fall and Winter, as it can block out the crisp breezes. A patterned rug, tropical plants and a quaint bistro patio table top off this Mediterranean inspired retreat and make it the ideal spot for sipping a Sunday morning mimosa or warm cup of coffee.
While the featured terrace is nearly perfect, as a lighting company, we noticed a little something was missing – the lighting! The terrace could definitely benefit by adding a small rustic light or two by the French doors or back wall, right? Our FGU Flush Mount Sconce has clean, horizontal lines, just like those found on the bistro chairs and potting station. A frosted glass jar is placed over the interior light bulb; this feature not only disguises the not-so-pretty bulbs, but also softens the light, giving the area a warm glow in the evenings or early mornings. If you’re thinking there is still time to get your own personal balcony or terrace redecorated before the season’s change, this particular rustic sconce even comes with a reasonable price tag. Starting at $189 each, it’s hard to find a more customizable American made light. For this particular style, we’d recommend a Bronze or Dark Green finish, but you could also venture into something like Vanilla Cream or Blue!
