Gooseneck Barn Lights Bring Farmhouse Style to Pool, Patio Renovation

Just when you think things couldn’t get any stranger, February says, “Here, hold my beer.” With last week’s record-setting polar blast covering 73 percent of the U.S. with snow, we’re more than ready to flip the calendar to spring.

In central Ohio, David and Beth are anxiously awaiting warmer temps to enjoy their recently renovated outdoor gazebo and pool house. The structures were built 40 years ago and were ready for an update.

“We wanted a traditional farmhouse feel to match our barn and chicken coop,” David says. “The barn was built in 1838 and is an old style, Dutch bank barn. It has a red metal roof so we wanted to replicate the farmhouse look with the red theme on the gazebo and pool house.”

The results are spectacular! The pool house now features a red tin roof, sliding barn doors and a gorgeous copper weathervane. Brightening the doorways are two Avalon Gooseneck Lights. These handcrafted fixtures are customized with 14″ shades, the classic Barn Red finish, and G14 gooseneck arms in a contrasting Galvanized finish.

The nearby gazebo offers a great place to relax and gather with friends. There is plenty of barstool seating around the outdoor kitchen, and four gooseneck lights affixed to the posts provide warm down lighting in the evenings.

For this space, David and Beth chose slightly smaller Avalon Goosenecks. These wall lights sport 8″ shades, the same Barn Red finish, and straight G3 Galvanized arms.

“We like the look of these smaller shades,” David explains, “and the smaller projection of the G3 straight arms worked well in this space.”

The three-story barn also received some attention during the renovation. Although it once housed livestock, the structure has been converted to a party barn for the humans. The first floor now holds a kitchen with a dumb waiter to the upper floors which include a workout room, hunt room, and David’s office/man cave.

To brighten up the first floor, David chose the Marathon SoHo 4-Light Chandelier. This American-made chandelier is customized with the Barn Red finish and a six-inch Galvanized stem.

“This is located just outside the barn kitchen,” David notes. “We plan on adding a pub table to this area and loved the look of a chandelier here.” David and Beth discovered Barn Light Electric in an online search for farmhouse lighting.

“We like the color and sizes available for our lights,” David says, “but mostly we love the farmhouse look.”
