Originally developed by Pass & Seymour, Alabax fixtures prominently used ceramic porcelain in their designs. We've merged this classic look with our schoolhouse lighting, resulting in a unique lighting option. Schoolhouse pendants were traditionally used to illuminate public spaces in the 1920s. However, today many designers integrate this vintage lighting into the decors of both residential and commercial spaces. The ceramic canopy is easily cleaned, making it the perfect addition to kitchen and restaurant lighting plans.
This fixture is handmade in the United States and is simple to customize. Select a vibrant finish color for the canopy, opaque or clear shade, and add hand-painted stripes to the schoolhouse shade and create a look unique to your home or business!
Features a customizable glass schoolhouse globe, hand-spun fitter and ceramic canopy.
White painted band(s) not recommended if Opaque Glass is selected, as it blends into the glass.
The single band style has a silver border outlining the chosen finish.

Schoolhouse Globes
Schoolhouse globes are best cleaned with a damp, soft cloth. To protect the glass and painted bands, avoid alcohol-based and abrasive cleaners. Instead, we recommend the following alcohol-free soaps and cleaners: 409, Windex, Dawn Dish Soap, Simple Green, and Mr. Clean Multi-Surface. Schoolhouse globes featuring a painted band selection should only be used indoors.
Copper & Brass
For oil-rubbed copper, weathered copper and brass finishes, slight variations may occur from shade to shade.
Copper and brass fixtures have a longer lead time and may take up to 4 weeks to manufacture. That are no returns accepted on these metals.
Copper is a "living" metal that, without regular cleaning, will undergo a natural weathering process. Much like the formation of rust on iron, a patina develops on copper which actually protects the metal. If you prefer the new-penny look of copper, you can keep it shiny with regular care with a gentle cleaning agent such as Bar Keeper's Friend.
Lead Times & Returns
Standard lead time is 7-14 business days. This is not applicable to commercial orders, Quick Ship lighting or furniture. Quick Ship lighting has a standard lead time of 5-7 business days. Furniture requires a 4-6 week lead time. Copper and brass products have a longer lead time and may take up to 4 weeks to manufacture.
Returns are accepted for most products within 30 days of delivery. We do not accept returns for fixtures that have been installed or are damaged. There are no returns accepted on furniture items, natural metal products, or products assembled with GU24 sockets, integrated LED's or light bulbs. All fixtures undergo a strict quality control evaluation to ensure they meet our high standards; however, some minor blemishes may occur due to our hands-on construction and manufacturing processes. These blemishes do not affect the functionality of the fixture.
Finish Care & Maintenance
No metal fixture, no matter the finish, is guaranteed against corrosion, especially in salt air environments. If your fixture will be installed in a location near salt water, we recommend cleaning it monthly.
If your fixture is not installed in a location near salt water, we recommend periodic cleaning with a mild soap-and-water wash and gentle buffing to extend the life of our painted finishes.
