Deep in a remote location of this beautiful state, architect Ellen Albrecht of ENS Associates, found herself remodeling a 100-year-old historic log building nestled amongst other aging log buildings. And one of our recent customers Down Under was delighted with her choice of three Ivanhoe® Union Porcelain Pendants for her kitchen. Kathy’s home in western Australia was undergoing some major remodeling, including a change in the floor plan that transformed a kitchen into two bathrooms and a living area into a bedroom. When Hurricane Sandy was bearing down on the East Coast just before Halloween, millions of anxious Americans watched and waited. In Madison, Connecticut, a coastal town along Long Island Sound, Jennifer and Mark had just finished installing barn lights and were putting the finishing touches on their brand new home when the hurricane hit. “We moved in the first week of October. Our house made out fine, thankfully, but we were without power for a week,” Jennifer says.

A blizzard could be raging outside these windows and you would be all warm and cozy here in the kitchen with a bowl of hot soup and crusty bread sitting at the kitchen island crafted from smooth, reclaimed wood. This kitchen has many great farmhouse touches from the distressed cabinets and old fashioned hardware to the exposed, rough hewn beams in the ceiling down to the copper sink that adds a bit of a rustic glow to the room. Antiques look great with the industrial farmhouse style and this homeowner went right back to the 1930s to find appropriate lighting for this space.
