Schoolhouse Light Brings Pop of Color to Laundry Room Reno
If you’re a regular reader of the Barn Light Electric blog, you likely remember our visit to The Granville Barn. This 100-year-old barn, located in Granville, Ohio, was transformed from a sagging structure into a beautiful AirBnB rental. Elliott and his wife Lauren utilized Barn Light wall lighting to add a fresh look to its exterior.
With the barn renovation completed, the couple turned their attention to the farmhouse on the property where they live with their young family. First up for a refresh was the small, but busy laundry/mudroom.
“This was the first space we remodeled when we moved in as it’s the first door we go in and out of each day,” Elliott says. “With a five-year-old and a three-year-old, this room gets lots of use!” Think lots of laundry and lots of muddy shoes. The couple wanted to keep the space practical and clean, so they opted for an octagonal tile floor and glossy white cabinets.
A lively, black-and-white concrete tile backsplash adds personality to the space. And the crowning touch is a Drum Kao Schoolhouse Flush Mount Light with opaque glass and a soft Mint finish.
“This is a pretty small space so we wanted something that would fit but pop!” Ellliott explains. “Color was key as was the size. We thought the opaque glass would be more clean and add warmth. We chose the Mint finish because the color is perfect and so fun!”
The Drum Kao Schoolhouse light comes in more than 30 finish colors and can be customized with opaque or clear glass. Painted bands can also be added to the glass globe with 10 colors to choose from.
“We just love the color and the design of the fixture,” Elliott says. “It gives this little space a lot of fun!”
