Creamy Mint LED Gooseneck Lighting Blends Style, Efficiency

Lake Ariel is the largest natural lake in the Pocono Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. It’s also the special place that Debbie is happy to call home. When she decided to add a garage to her property recently, Debbie wanted to find a design to complement her home, a four-square cottage built back in 1918, and her nearby two-story boathouse.

“We were looking for a design that would complement the house and our location on the lake,” Debbie says. “The boathouse has a cupola and weathervane so we wanted to mimic that on the garage.” Debbie found the perfect building from Sheds Unlimited in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. The new garage features a loft, plenty of windows, transoms, shutters, and flower boxes all which add to the cottage feel she desired.

“I knew I wanted gooseneck lights,” Debbie explains. “I started looking online for American-made products but most companies do not offer many color options.” Debbie’s biggest criteria for her new lighting was to match the mint green color of her home. She also wanted a product that would stand up to the humid summers and snowy winters of the Poconos.

Debbie discovered Barn Light Electric’s LED collection of lighting during her online search. She opted for LED lighting for the abundant light it offers without using much electricity.

“I selected the Original™ LED Warehouse Gooseneck Light because it’s such a classic design,” Debbie notes. “I chose the 20″ shade over the garage door because I wanted the proportions to be correct. Anything smaller between the double door and the transom would not have looked as good in my opinion.” Debbie also chose the Mint powder coat finish color, a G11 gooseneck arm, and a flat lens for this fixture.

“The mint finish and G11 arm are classic and tie in with the style of the house,” she says. “I chose the 1250 lumens for this fixture because I need to have enough light to walk from the garage to the house at night. We also have a camera on the garage, and the light enables us to clearly see all the wildlife that goes by including foxes, mink, deer, opossum, and bears.”

For the side door, Debbie chose a slightly smaller 14″ shade with the same Mint finish and G11 gooseneck arm. She chose the flat lens for her new LED lights as she knew it would be easy to maintain and keep clean.

“I love the unexpected pop of color against the dark gray siding,” she notes. “I also love how those two lights tie the detached garage to the main house. Once the copper on the weathervane starts to patina, it’ll look even more cohesive.”

Although Debbie knew she could probably find gooseneck lights at any big box store, she notes that she buys most everything online and reads every review available.

“I wanted a classic light with a good warranty and that offered me a myriad of choices,” she says. “Outdoor lighting can add so much character to a home.”
