Compact Wall Sconces Offer Practical, Stylish Choice for Built-In Beds

Maggie’s home near Park City, Utah, is a beehive of activity thanks to four kids, two dogs, three horses, 25 turkeys, and 30 chickens. While the family loves their small farm town location, renovations were needed to make their 25-year-old home suit the family’s needs. Back in May, Maggie shared the transformation of her kitchen and dining areas in this post.

Today, we continue our tour of the home starting with the entryway which boasts a soaring staircase leading to the upper floor.

“To say this remodel was complex would be a major understatement,” Maggie says. “In the entry, we redid the staircase designing a custom galvanized railing. It’s steel, very square, and modern.”

Maggie wanted to add color to the space and thought the Bubble 5-Light Chandelier was a fun choice. She customized this eclectic chandelier with a Delphite Blue finish, clear glass, and a 36″ stem.

“This chandelier is perfect especially with the bubbles,” she notes. “It’s right in the entryway for everyone to see first thing. It also matches my exterior lighting right outside the front door so everything coordinates.”

Upstairs, Maggie turned unused attic space into rooms for her kids by moving trusses and adding HVAC, electrical wiring, full insulation, and a partial hex window. Sons Chance and Jenkins share a room with custom-built beds that double as reading nooks.

“My children LOVE to read. In the past, we bought little book lights but they always seem to go missing. And the corded ones are not good when a child is falling asleep in bed,” Maggie explains. “I needed a light that was small, simple, beautiful, and, of course, well made.”

Maggie chose the Kao Wall Sconce for each bed and customized these with a Navy finish. She added a dimmer switch so the sconce doubles as a night light when needed.

“I chose Navy for the boys because the color complements the navy quilts on the bed,” she says. “It’s a masculine room with their climbing wall, exposed galvanized steel beam, and pull-up balls.”

For her daughters’ room, Maggie chose the same Kao Wall Sconces but customized the fixtures with a Delphite Blue finish. She loves that color and it complements the rest of the lighting in the home.

“My kids beg me to let them read ‘just 15 more minutes please’ every night,” Maggie says laughing. “Reading is a passion for them all. The Kao Wall Sconces are small, simple, amazingly adorable, and perfect for a built-in bed.” These ceramic porcelain wall lights are easy to clean and their vibrant finish will never fade.

“I feel like Barn Light Electric has the best customer service I’ve ever experienced with a company,” Maggie says. “I love the styles and customization options. The finishes are so beautiful, smooth, and durable.” Check back soon as we will conclude our visit with Maggie with a tour of the exterior of her Utah home!
