The entertaining season is upon us and while I do love visiting with friends and family, my favorite part of the holidays is the food! I love throwing a party with nothing but hors d’oeuvres and desserts because, quite frankly, those are my favs. It’s like opening your own tapas place where guests sample little bites of this and that and since they don’t fill up on a heavy meal, there’s plenty of room for dessert!

With the clip of a gigantic pair of scissors, we officially opened the Barn Light Electric Manufacturing Division in Titusville, Florida last Saturday. Well, in reality, it was the small and very sharp pair of scissors hidden behind the giant pair that did the snipping, but we had a grand time with fabulous food, a sidewalk sale, and the Barn Light Electric Super Late Model stock car in the parking lot!

It’s beginning to look a lot like… autumn, my favorite time of year. I can finally justify my daily cardigans and jeans because at a crisp 74° degrees, why wear anything else? The concept of the open floor plan took off in the late 40’s and 1950’s as homeowners sought to make smaller homes feel bigger and brighter. The open concept provides more casual, multi-use spaces that encourage conversation between rooms and simplifies traffic patterns to and from. The downside is that a space can feel cold and cavernous without something to provide a visual break between the areas.
