Schoolhouse Lighting Beautiful Alternative to Pendants

When working with small spaces, every detail counts from the flooring style to the paint color to the ceiling lights. When Peg, a customer from Fairport, New York, tackled a gut renovation of her small eat-in kitchen, she wanted to maximize the utilization of space for storage but still maintain space for dining.

The finished kitchen boasts modern touches with black appliances and counter tops, stone gray cabinets, and soothing gray, luxury vinyl tile flooring. When it came to choosing kitchen lighting, Peg knew exactly what she didn’t want.

“No pendant lights!” she says emphatically. “I wanted recessed lighting for utility with some standout accent lighting. American-made custom lights from Barn Light Electric were a perfect fit.”

Peg chose two Primary Schoolhouse Semi-Flush Mount Lights to highlight her dining space in the kitchen. She customized these beautiful schoolhouse lights with small glass globes, a Barn Red fitter and canopy, and a double painted band of Barn Red around the globe.

“I wanted something different that wasn’t a pendant,” she explains. “We cut through the wall and the semi-flush mount on these allowed for more of the lights to be seen in the living room.” Red is Peg’s favorite color and she used it throughout the kitchen as an accent.

Over the sink, she chose the complementary look of the Primary Schoolhouse Flush Mount Light also customized with a small globe and Barn Red accents. This compact fixture provides a soft glow of light over the sink at night but doesn’t obstruct the view out the window during daylight hours.

“I love everything about these lights!” Peg notes. “We were able to match our stool seating to the Barn Red finish almost exactly. The lights are the first thing everyone notices and admires. They always ask where we got them.” Peg discovered the schoolhouse lights on Barn Light Electric’s Kitchen Lighting board on Pinterest.

“From the ordering to the shipping to the attention to detail, I was very pleased,” Peg says. “I would highly recommend, if you want quality, use Barn Light Electric!”
