Orange Table Lamps Offer Colorful Industrial Pop
We follow a number of great design blogs around here and our new favorite is The Sunny Side Up. Written by Erin, who lives in sunny San Diego, the blog was named Best Overall Design Blog at this year’s Design Bloggers Conference. Erin’s pages are loaded with stunning photography and plenty of home design, décor, and organization ideas. She also shares her top 10 lessons learned during the building of her family’s custom home.
Now that the building process is complete, Erin has been busy putting her stamp on every room in their new home. Her attention this summer focused on her son’s bedroom which needed some table lamps for bedtime reading.
“The main focus for me when choosing lamps for my son’s room was the style and color,” Erin says. “His room has an industrial vibe and I wanted lamps that fit that look and had a bit of a retro/vintage feel to them to go with his fan.” Erin fell in love with the Dino Retro Desk Lamp for Kole’s room and was thrilled that it is available in so many colors.
“I’ve always loved orange when it comes to my son! He wears a lot of orange and, because of that, I decided that his room would be gray and navy with pops of orange,” she explains. “I kept all of the main furniture in his room more neutral and knew the lamps would be the perfect place to add that color.”
Erin customized the two table lamps with 14″ shades, 18″ stems, Orange finish, and white cloth cords.
“I wanted them to be orange to add that pop of color I was looking for, but I was a little worried about the orange being too red,” she notes. “So they sent me a sample of the color and I could tell it was perfect.”
Inspired by 1940s desk lamp designs, the Dino Retro Desk Lamp features an industrial warehouse shade mounted to a weighted base. This vintage industrial table lamp comes in two sizes and multiple finish and cord colors.
“I loved that I could get them in a large size so that they would really stand out,” Erin says. “I also loved that the slender stem would give me more room for accessories and books to put on his nightstands.” Kole loves to read and the Dino’s shade style offers plenty of downlighting onto his treasured books.
“They are so perfect for his room. The shade really creates a nice glow of light for reading, and we read together every night when I tuck him in,” Erin says. “The style, color, and look are perfect for his room and add so much personality. We are both thrilled with them!”
