Chain-Hung Lighting Offers Industrial Alternative to Pendants

When considering pendant lighting for a residential or commercial space, many people opt for cord-hung or stem-mounted pendants. Cords offer a great way to add texture and color to a fixture and allow for installation on sloped ceilings. A stem-mounted pendant lends a more formal look to a space and has the added benefit of being wet rated so it can be installed indoors or out.

For a slight twist on traditional mountings, consider a chain-hung pendant. This style features a cord woven through a decorative chain mounting imparting a more industrial edge to the pendant’s design. The chain mounting also offers more flexibility in spaces where a swagged fixture is required.

For example, Amanda struggled with an off-center electrical box in her dining room. She needed a light that could swag, but none of the ceiling lights she considered could accommodate that. Amanda loves vintage designs with a modern edge. She found the perfect mix in our Primary Schoolhouse Chain Hung Pendant.

Amanda customized her new American-made schoolhouse light with a large globe, Black fitter, standard black cord, and triple painted bands of Jadite. Her electrician wired the pendant into the existing electrical box, installed a hook directly over the table, and voila!

Paul and his wife chose chain-hung barn lights for their home in British Columbia, Canada. The vintage style of the Bomber Chain Hung Pendant Light offers a classic look yet with clean, modern lines. The couple customized these pendant lights with 17″ shades, an Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish, and standard black cords. They also opted for the wire cage to complete the aesthetic they envisioned.

When designer Ruth M’Rav-Jankelowitz transformed a former Dairy Queen into the Breka Bakery in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, the concept was rustic chic with an eclectic flair. To create an inviting, fresh, and warm feel, Ruth opted for Wilcox Deep Bowl Chain Hung Pendant Lights.
