Behind the Scenes | The Final Stop Before Your Door
As we wrap up our celebration of National Manufacturing Month, our final stop is the Shipping Department. After our metal spinners, painters, and assemblers complete their handiwork in crafting your new American-made lighting, it needs to leave our Florida facility and find its way safely to your door whether you live in Orlando, Ontario, or Okinawa.
And while Shipping is the last stop in the process, it’s a vital component of our overall manufacturing operation. Our goal is for your lights to be packaged well enough to keep them protected during transit while being as earth-friendly as possible with our packing materials.
After assembly and a quality check, the lights are wrapped in plastic and trundled over to the shipping department.
Some fixtures, such as this Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Light, will be nestled atop thick paper inside a cardboard box.
A fitted cardboard insert is placed atop the light with the neck poking through which keeps it from shifting during transit. This packaging not only protects the lighting but is easy to recycle.
Any additional parts, such as the backing plate or gooseneck arm, are secured to the top of the insert. Additional packing adds extra security. The box is trimmed along perforated lines and sealed shut creating a perfectly sized container for each particular light.
Christina makes sure the paperwork is in order and begins the tracking process with UPS. The customer receives email notification that the box is on the way and the big brown truck is loaded up.
As Bob from New Jersey told us…
You can tell that Barn Light Electric deeply cares about what they do. The fixture arrived in perfect condition, because of the well thought-out, impeccable packaging. I could not be more pleased
with the entire transaction. Thank you, Barn Light Electric!!!
