Preserving Mid 20th Century History With Antique Lighting Options

At the beginning of the 1930s a shift from industrial lights which hung over individual workbenches began to be replaced by its newly designed replacement, which became known as RLM Warehouse Shades. Due to its popularity several manufacturing companies began to produce this highly effective warehouse, factory light that used its uniquely original design to deliver a wide span of light. Companies such as Benjamin®, Crouse-Hinds, Appleton, and the Miller Company created differing variations to the traditional design that catered to different demands; some creating explosion proof versions for differing applications.Benjamin Gooseneck Light

Post Mount Lights Add Finishing Touch to Exterior Lighting

Nothing gives a home or business a more finished look than the welcoming glow beaming from a lamp post light. This classic marriage of decoration and functionality was in use long before the invention of the light bulb as early models were powered by gas. Most designs harken back to the Victorian Era where lanterns adorned ornamental fluted posts and decorative bases lined the moonlit streets and driveways of America and Europe in the 19th century. Galvanized Fan Blades Are Now Available!

Galvanized Machine Age Ceiling Fan

With such an unmistakable appearance, the Machine Age Galvanized Ceiling Fan takes on the style and appearance of the Industrial Age. The Industrial Age was defined by the solid metal construction and rugged durability, something that this fan exhibits fully. Before now the blade choices on this fan were limited to five wooden blade options, but now the Machine Age Galvanized Fan is available with 100% Galvanized metal blades. These enhance the overall appearance of this fan, especially when paired with an optional warehouse shade or cast guard lighting kit. The large metal casing for the motor reflects the same rugged industrial appearance that was utilized in the Railroad Era. The Machine Age Fan should be mounted at a minimum of 10 feet from floor to blades, and is not recommended for residential use unless the ceiling height is 10 feet or greater. This unique fan design conveys a historical factory style that is ideal for many modern or rustic interior settings that might take advantage of this original creation.

Design and Functionality Collide

One of our most popular Gooseneck and Pendant lights is our Outback Series. On the Outback you get the best of both worlds with our classic warehouse shade design, and cast guard and glass which also gives off side light. Like many of our products here at Barn Light Electric, options for the Outback are almost endless. On the Gooseneck version, we have more than 40 different Gooseneck Arms. With our Outback Pendant, you can choose to hang the fixture with a Stem Mount, Black, or White Cord. If you do hang your Outback Pendant on a Stem, check to see if your ceiling is slanted or flat. If it is slanted, then you will need the Stem Hang Straight Canopy, this allows the light to swivel and hang straight on a sloped ceiling. If your ceiling is flat, then bypass the hang straight canopy, and use our Stem Mount Canopy. In addition to the many options the Outback allows, the glass enclosure has multiple choices as well. You can choose from a Clear, Frost, Ribbed, Amber, Amber Crackled, Blue, Red, or Green Glass. If space is an issue, do not worry, the Outback is available from 12″ all the way up to 27″. Whether you choose the Outback Pendant or Gooseneck Fixture, your RLM possibilities are just about endless.
