Hi Erin,

It sounds like a frosted bulb or an Edison bulb may be your best option for your kitchen. The Edison bulbs have a maximum wattage of 60 watts, therefore providing for a less harsh light. A frosted light bulb would also help in diffusing the light! If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call. One of our knowledgeable sales reps would love to assist you in finding the best solution for you!

I have one over our table in the kitchen - comes with a pulley and rope to adjust it up and down. I lvoe the look of it but the light is so harsh. I've tried a variety of bulbs. What do you recommend? This is the main light for the room - a small kitchen. But it doesn't really work for either lighting the kitchen table or the room -- and everyone who comes to our house complains about the light in their eyes, except maybe if one is standing and it's lowered to it's lowest height. I see your company makes the Edison repro bulbs -- I'd be willing to give that a try but how well do they light? Or are they just for ambience? I'd like a bit of advice before I purchase the bulbs. Thanks!
