In reply to Bruce. We checked with the homeowner who offered this info on the J-block. Good luck and thanks for checking out the blog! I got the J-Block @ Superior Distribution in Clarksville TN. Appears there are stores around the Southeast also.

I’ve looked every where for a J-Block like those shown behind the light. They look like they would work perfectly, even if they need to be modified to fit over the corrugation rib. I can’t find a mounting block of this style. Any chance you could get a manufacturer’s name for the block? Thanks

In reply to shields macurdy. That question comes up a lot! If you read the other comments on this post, we asked the homeowner how he dealt with his specific issue. He used a J-block which is that square piece behind the canopy that he painted to complement the siding. You might also try to position the light between the ribs if possible and use a support box on the back side of the wall. We always recommend contacting a qualified electrician who has likely dealt with these issues and could come up with a solution tailored to your specific siding. I am in the process of mounting two of these lights over garage doors and have the mounting problem with the rib issue. Any ideas?

You still have to modify the j block because the metal is ribbed. They don’t make ones specific to pole barns. Also curious what box he used behind the block since it’s a bell 4 inch round box and what that looks like. I have 11 of your lights going up on mine now. I’ll let you know what I come up with. You can find threads on this issue all over the internet. Beautiful lights though! I’m open to hearing any suggestions-

Our contractor bought it through a local electrical supply house. They are called j-blocks. Common, inexpensive part & easily paintable.
