We often note they&#8217;ve been popular since the 1920&#8217;s and that they were commonly used around warehouses, factories, and agricultural areas such as sheds, farmhouses, and barns &#8211; hence our very own term, <a title=\"Barn Lights\" href=\"\/\">Barn Lights<\/a>. These larger shades were originally designed to reduce the glare and eliminate sharp shadows around wide, flat surfaces &#8211; ultimately speeding up the manufacturing and assembling process. These newly redesigned light fixtures replaced small, <a title=\"cloth cord cage pendants\" href=\"\/inspiration\/pendant-lighting\/vintage-pendants\/\">cloth cord cage pendants<\/a>.
