Featured Customer | Lauren from Jacksonville, FL

lauren-leonard-interiors.jpgToday’s featured customer definitely got it right when reconfiguring her laundry room and pantry. We’re not quite sure how it looked before, but the end result is fantastic! She clearly has an eye for great Southern design – after all, it kind of looks like a snapshot straight from Southern Living Magazine. The homeowner, Lauren, is an interior designer based out of Jacksonville, Florida, just a short two hour drive North of us. Most would expect the home of an interior designer to be filled with opulence and the latest design trends – that’s not always the case in Lauren’s designs.

In her client’s homes, Lauren’s design philosophy is that of a clean, fresh aesthetic. She has the ability to combine each home’s unique architecture with relaxing color pallets, so when it came to designing her own home, it would be no different.

Lauren is a woman on the go – she runs her interior design studio, plus she’s a busy wife and mother to her husband and three children. The pantry chalkboard functions as a place to remind her family of the day’s events and what extra groceries are needed. The plank walls paired with the crisp white trim have that rustic, cottage feel that all we know and love.

59984_product_image_29823_38.jpgShe topped it all off with our very own Barn Light Austin Sconce to make it the perfect little nook. Lauren is participating in our giant online giveaway too. On her blog she mentioned our barn sconce: “I love how a light can add so much personality to a space.” – and she couldn’t be more right! The galvanized finish she chose was perfect for that welcome-home farmhouse feel, plus its smaller size was just the right choice for a compact area that needed a little extra light.

Would the 10″ Austin sconces give off enough light for a small half bath over the sink?

The Austin Wall Sconce can handle up to a 200 watt bulb so you should be able to play with the wattage to get the desired light you need. This is a “warehouse” type shade meaning that the light will be focused downward towards the sink, not up into the room.

Sometimes it helps customers visualize how large a shade will look in a space by cutting out a circle of cardboard the diameter of the light and holding in place.
