Featured Customer | Galvanized Lighting Adds Finishing Touch to Arkansas Cabin

Tucked away in the Ozark Mountains in the northwest corner of Arkansas lies the amiable little town of Eureka Springs. With a downtown full of Victorian-era buildings and a vibrant art scene, the town not only draws plenty of tourists but also attracts those who wish to build vacation homes so they can enjoy all the area has to offer. Today’s Featured customer Kathy recently put the finishing touches on her family’s vacation home which includes a variety of barn lighting — all with rustic galvanized finishes.

“We started with a cottage vision and ended up with more of a barn style due to the rustic materials we gravitated toward,” explains Kathy. “We used cedar milled from our lot, along with pine and old barn wood.” Kathy wanted her lighting to reflect the barn type materials they used — plus it would blend well with their simple wooden furniture.

On the exterior, Kathy chose two 10″ Austin Wall Sconces to flank the front door lending a rustic welcome to friends andneighbors. She also selected a number of All Weather Gooseneck Farm Lights to give focused light onto the outdoor shower and the grill.

“We used galvanized roofing on our eyebrow windows so we chose the barn-style galvanized finish on our exterior lighting to coordinate,” Kathy says. “They provide a lot of light and struck the exact style statement we envisioned.”

On the interior, Kathy’s great room now sports two 15″ Old Dixie Stem Mount Pendants which provide plenty of light with their deep, wide bowls even from the high ceiling. The galvanized finish on these fixtures continues the barn theme from the exterior lighting.

For her kitchen, Kathy knew exactly what she wanted when she was browsing our website.

“I have always loved old graniteware and since it seemed to blend well with the barn style, we suspended two graniteware pendants over the hand-made island which is constructed from old barn wood,” she says. Kathy chose the 10″ Ivanhoe® Sinclair Graniteware Pendant in Black with Jadite and White finish, a polished nickel socket, and a black cotton twist cord.

“We spent hours and hours searching the Barn Light Electric website over a number of months. It provided so many choices we would have been hard pressed not to find the lights that were a perfect fit for our project!” Kathy says. “Many people who build say they didn’t enjoy the process, but my husband and I really enjoyed researching the hundreds and thousands of pictures which inspired us to make the ultimate choices we made.”
