Classic Barn Lighting Completes Industrial Vibe of New Home

Many people begin the monumental task of building a new home with a vision. They see the architecture, the landscaping, and maybe even the finer details as they plan, pin, and purchase. For Kerry and her husband, the vision of their new home in Saluda, North Carolina, began as a barn retreat with a farmhouse feel. Yet after saving hundreds of photos of architectural features and décor, Kerry decided to embrace a more industrial barn look in her new home.

“Our home is 4,200 square feet with three bedrooms, a sun room, exercise room, and a combined kitchen, dining room, and den,” Kerry says. “We decided to go with all wood inside which is white washed; there is no sheet rock anywhere, and all the doors and window frames inside are black.” For the lighting, Kerry chose classic barn lights for inside and out.

“I really like the barn style lighting and it goes so well with the industrial barn feel,” she notes. “They have clean lines, are understated and practical, and make a statement without shouting, ‘I’m in a barn!'” For the interior spaces, Kerry chose the Bomber Pendant Light in a 15″ shade size. She chose the Textured Black finish color for all.

Outside, Kerry customized the Bomber Pendants with a slightly larger 17″ shade for the front porch and on the walkway to the back entrance. Since the wind can be fierce in the mountains, her husband decided stem mounting would provide more stability for the exterior lights.

For additional outdoor lighting, Kerry chose the Bomber Gooseneck Light again with the Textured Black finish.

“I love the look of the Bomber design. I just says ‘barn’ to me and since that was the inspiration for the house, it was a perfect fit,” Kerry says. “The 11″ shades are mounted above exterior doors, and we used two 15″ gooseneck lights above the garage doors.” All of the fixtures in the Bomber family of lights are American made and handcrafted by our metal spinners.

“I am a big supporter of American-made products and buy as locally as I can,” Kerry says. “I love that the lights fit in perfectly with my design and decorating plan. They are classic barn lights!”
