What are industrial fans?

Rugged manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and other rustic settings require overhead fans to keep the air moving and cool down the space. Unlike residential and commercial locations, which need their fans to appear stylish, industrial ceiling fans are purely utilitarian in purpose and design.

Durable ceiling fans are built to withstand the conditions they may face in rugged settings. Metal blades and a heavy-duty housing for the motor give industrial shop fans their structural integrity; many of these fans are also moisture-proof, allowing installation in outdoor spaces. Wire cages offer further protection for the blades without inhibiting the flow of air.

Because industrial ceiling fans need to move air throughout voluminous buildings, they incorporate powerful high velocity motors into their structures. Many commercial grade fans are designed to direct air downward, while others are reversible to provide destratification in the winter—meaning redistributing warmer air from the ceiling to the floor. Installing fans greatly reduces cooling costs. Because these powerful motors are primarily concerned with circulating high volumes of air, they are often louder than the ceiling fans used in homes and customer-centered businesses.

Industrial Ceiling Fans Settings and Usage

Nearly every rugged setting benefits from including these durable, commercial-grade ceiling fans. Industrial ceiling fans are frequently installed in:

  • Factories: To evenly distribute A/C and keep employees feeling cool and comfortable, factories often include multiple industrial ceilings fans.
  • Barns and agricultural settings: Because these locations lack air conditioning, installing large commercial fans keeps barns, stables, and other settings from feeling stifling in summertime. This makes animals happy too!
  • Large workshops: Industrial fans are regularly incorporated into large private and commercial workshops.
  • Warehouses: To prevent warehouses from feeling stuffy and humid, ceiling fans keep the air moving throughout these spaces.
  • Large outdoor pavilions: Commercial ceiling fans make these exterior settings more comfortable in the hot summer months.
