7/29/98 J. Mckairnes fishes out of Barnegat Light every weekend from March through November in a 28-foot Wellcraft Sportfisher. He reports good fluke fishing in heavy seas last weekend (7/25 - 7/26). He had good catches in a fast drift just north of the bathing beach in 30 to 40 feet of water. There were a few throwbacks, but mostly legal-size fish. He picked up some small bluefish and a Spanish mackeral as well.
7/31/98 John Larson, co-owner of popular Viking Village at 18th Street and Bayview and owner of a large part of Barnegat Light's commercial fleet, would welcome visitors to the docks to see the unloading and icing of fresh-caught fish. Visitors are also invited to tour the Viking Village shops, including outdoor clothing and supplies, antiques, jewelry, decorator items, crafts, memorabilia, and collectibles. They should bring their cameras. There is much to see and much to take home.
